Congratulations to Kinisla Milk Suppliers, Robert and Mary Troy and their family from Newtownshandrum, Co. Cork, as they were named overall winners of the 2026 NDC & Kerrygold Quality Milk Awards.
The Troy family, who supply milk to Kinisla, received Ireland’s highest dairy farming accolade yesterday, September 30th at a special awards ceremony held at the Lyrath Estate Hotel in Co. Kilkenny.
They were selected from 12 finalist farming families representing six counties and 12 dairy co-operatives across the country.
As well as taking home the overall award, the family also received the Milking Hygiene & Facilities Award in recognition of the exceptional standards maintained on their farm.
The NDC & Kerrygold Quality Milk Awards recognise excellence across every aspect of dairy farming, from milk quality and animal welfare to environmental stewardship, farm management and technical performance.
Robert and Mary farm alongside their five children, Rory, Robert Junior, Fiona, Orla and Eimear, all of whom play an active role in the family business. Their grass-based farming system reflects generations of farming knowledge, a strong focus on milk quality and a commitment to continuous improvement.
This latest achievement follows the family’s success at the Kinisla Milk Quality & Sustainability Awards in 2023 and reflects the consistently high standards they bring to every aspect of their farming operation.

Now in its 17th year, the NDC & Kerrygold Quality Milk Awards are organised by the National Dairy Council and Ornua.
The awards recognise farming families whose commitment to quality, sustainability, animal welfare and farm excellence helps maintain Ireland’s reputation for world-class dairy production.
